Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said publicly today that Roy Moore should step aside.
With the allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore, some Republican senators have withdrawn their support of the Senate candidate and others have said he should immediately step aside.
And now McConnell is saying the same, in addition to stating rather definitively, “I believe the women.”
You can watch a clip of his remarks above.
UPDATE –– 1:43 pm ET: Moore has responded by saying McConnell’s the one who should step aside. And Senator Susan Collins tweeted this:
I have now read Mr. Moore’s statement and listened to his radio interview in which he denies the charges. I did not find his denials to be convincing and believe that he should withdraw from the Senate race in Alabama.
