Modified American Flag Posters No Longer Available In Obama Campaign Store

You might recall that, late last week, Megyn Kelly featured a panel debate on the Obama re-election campaign’s use of American flag imagery in its campaign merchandise, where the heated discussion touched upon whether it was disrespectful to modify the flag by putting Obama’s campaign logo where the stars would go.

Well, that controversy-stirring poster seems to no longer be available in the campaign’s store.

BuzzFeed noticed the change and reports the following:

A page where the flag was now returns as error page. A cached version of the website still shows the product but returns a error page when attempting to add the item to the cart. An Obama campaign aide says the item quickly sold out and that sold out items are automatically removed. However, a similar item to the flag print that was also sold out was not automatically removed and appears on the site with “out of stock” below it.

We tested the link to the “out of stock” item, which as of publishing (before 7 a.m. on Monday), reveals the following instead of the original “out of stock” message BuzzFeed reported at 4:02 p.m. on Saturday:

Is this a case of “nothing to see here,” or backpedaling following an unanticipated controversy?
