Morning Joe’s Mike Barnicle: Two Sources Say Mike Flynn ‘In a Strong Position’ to Get Immunity

While Morning Joe volleyed between criticizing Donald Trump at home and criticizing him abroad, show regular, Mike Barnicle, dropped a bombshell tidbit of news that flew mostly under the radar.

During a discussion of the ongoing scandal surrounding Mike Flynn, the Morning Joe regular said that two sources close to the investigation told him that Flynn was “in a strong position” to receive immunity after a canny legal decision to invoke his 5th amendment right against self-incrimination.

“He has an absolute right, and his lawyers are absolutely correct to invoke the fifth amendment,” said Barnicle. “I’m told by two people yesterday who are involved in this investigation that he is kind of in a strong position right now to get immunity, because to move this investigation forward, you’ve got to speak to General Flynn.”

Barnicle then echoed the general’s lawyers own words.

“He has a story to tell, as his lawyer said, and he’s got to tell that story.”

A Flynn immunity deal, if ever reached, would likely be an earthquake. It would free up the general to divulge information without fear of consequence and would strongly suggest the true targets of the Russia probe lay above him.
