MSNBCers Fall For Fake Twitter Account For Fake Republican Congressman

Republican congressman Jim Hankle made some racist remarks on Twitter about President Obama and Cory Booker. It was outrageous and offensive, except for the fact that there is no such person in Congress as Jim Hankle. But unfortunately, it’s easy for people to fall for satire these days, and one MSNBC contributor and a reporter for that network both believed Hankle was real and dumbfoundedly tweeted about it.

Here’s the original tweet:

And here’s how MSNBC contributor Goldie Taylor reacted to it.

Her tweet was also noticed by MSNBC digital reporter Irin Carmon.

Perhaps people should be a teeny bit more careful before assuming every Twitter account with “Rep” in front of it is an actual member of Congress.
