MSNBC’s Tamron Hall Interrogates GOP Rep. Blackburn on Support for Trump
MSNBC’s Tamron Hall asked GOP Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn to explain why Republicans were only now, at this late stage of the primary, making an effort to understand Donald Trump’s policies.
Seizing on Blackburn’s expressed desire to learn more about Trump’s plans — which do not strictly adhere to GOP orthodoxy — Hall demanded to know why the party lacked this inquisitive spirit throughout the primary when Trump was leading with the voters.
“There seems to have not been the curiosity about the person who has been leading in the votes for a very long time,” she said. “Donald Trump did not happen overnight. So you have yourself, and Speaker Ryan, all saying they’re trying to get to know him now. Why were you not curious about what he was saying before? Why the curiosity now?”
Although she could not point to specific policies, Blackburn said, “I think he is going to be the next president of the United States and he he would be an incredible president of the United States.” The interview was cut short when Blackburn stopped answering Hall’s questions, saying her earpiece had fallen out.
