NBC’s Hallie Jackson raised Donald Trump‘s past shots at Senator Ted Cruz‘s wife, Heidi, at the White House press briefing on Wednesday, and asked Press Secretary Sean Spicer if the President had any intention of apologizing to Mrs. Cruz for these attacks during the 2016 Republican presidential primary campaign.
Jackson noted that Trump and Senator Cruz had a scheduled meeting on Wednesday evening and pointed out that “Heidi Cruz is coming.” She wondered “if he [Trump] has any plans to apologize to her for the insinuations he made on the campaign trail.”
Back in March 2016, then-candidate Trump threatened to “spill the beans” on Mrs. Cruz. A day later, he re-Tweeted a post attacking her appearance. As of Wednesday afternoon, the billionaire’s Twitter post is still up.

Spicer never directly answered the NBC correspondent’s question. He spent the bulk of his reply spotlighting the President’s other recent meetings with members of Congress and other prominent individual and groups. He also twice emphasized that Mr. Trump was looking forward to the dinner with Senator and Mrs. Cruz.
