NRA Reports Senior Citizens Are Arming Themselves in Greater Numbers
Senior citizens have become increasingly concerned about self-defense, according to the NRA, which reports that seniors are purchasing guns and seeking out firearm training in greater numbers over the past half-decade or so.
Specifically, the NRA is reporting a “400 percent increase” in “the number of senior citizens taking a basic firearms course since 2010” at the national level. Locally, there are reports of a spike in senior citizens purchasing guns for self-defense.
Breitbart’s Second Amendment columnist AWR Hawkins writes:
In July 2015, Breitbart News reported surging sales to seniors, which indicated a shift from traditional long gun purchases for hunting to handgun purchases for self-defense. And Fox News reported that Tim Tomich, owner of Tim’s Shooting Academy in Westfield, Indiana, was noticing then not simply a rise in senior purchases, but also a sharp increase in the number of seniors who want training in “how to shoot.”
This is all consistent with the “400 percent increase” in seniors seeking out firearms training courses since 2010.
