Obama Slams Gun Bill Rejection: ‘The Senate Failed the American People’
After more than a week of making a new case for gun control, President Obama is furious that the Orlando Shooting now seems unlikely to bring about any change to America’s gun laws.
The president has been calling for stronger control as he condemned the shooting’s terror element, and Press Secretary Josh Earnest today said that it was “shameful display of cowardice” that Republican senators caved to the gun lobby yet again. Based on what the President tweeted today, Earnest’s frustrations this morning were the tip of the iceberg:
Gun violence requires more than moments of silence. It requires action. In failing that test, the Senate failed the American people.

The four bills shot down yesterday focused on addressing the terror gap, expanding background checks, and restricting gun purchases by those on terror watch and no-fly lists.
