Brent Nicholson was arrested by South Carolina policemen on Friday on suspicions of drug trafficking and possessing stolen property. What has amazed the authorities over the weekend however, was that they discovered what exactly that property was: thousands and thousands of guns.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Jay Brooks told local media that they recently received a tip about Nicholson’s activities, and they launched a raid on his house, his tractor trailers, and various buildings associated with him across town. What they found in total was over 100 chainsaws, around 300 mounts for taxidermy…and anywhere between 7,000 to 10,000 firearms and enough ammunition to match.
“None of us have ever seen anything anywhere close to this,” Brooks said to WBTV. “No telling how many break-ins this will help wrap up.”
Brooks also elaborated that the guns the authorities have gone through have mostly been shotguns and hunting rifles that Nicholson seemingly stole and hoarded over the years. Fox reported that there is no evidence yet suggesting that Nicholson was a weapons trafficker, or that he ever used them, only that he just wanted to keep adding to his collection.
“His house looked like that hoarders program on TV,” Brooks said.
Law enforcement is continuing to sort through the colossal weapons cache in order to return anything that was stolen to its rightful owners.
