Romney Campaign Raised $17.6 Million More Than Obama In May
Mitt Romney‘s campaign reports that they have raised more than $76.8 million in May, approximately $17.6 million more than President Barack Obama and Democrats raised during the same month.
The campaign said that 93 percent of the May donations consisted of $250 or less, but those donations only accounted for $12 million out of the total $76.8 million.
The May total is an increase from April, in which Romney raised a total of $40.1 million.
The Huffington Post reports that Romney and the Republican’ May fundraising figure is historic, as previous Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain only raised $21 million in May of the 2008 presidential campaign.
