Rubio Staffer Accused of Punching Rand Paul Staffer in the Face
Sparks were sure to fly at a gathering of Republicans on Michigan’s Mackinac Island. But according to one operative, campaign tensions escalated to physical violence.
Rand Paul’s national political director John Yob recounted the barroom brawl on Facebook in a 2:00 AM post. “I ran into a guy named Rich Beeson, who frankly I didn’t even know who it was at first because he isn’t relevant in our political world…” he said. “He literally physically assaulted me by punching me in the face.”
Beeson is the deputy campaign manager for Marco Rubio. “The state police are looking for him,” Yob continued. “I have it on video, from multiple angles. This will play out in the national media in the next few hours.”
Six hours later, Yob took to Facebook to call on Rubio to fire Beeson immediately.
UPDATE (11:39 AM ET): Yob provided TIME’s Zeke Miller with a video of the alleged incident.
