Scarborough Gets Tense With Stormy Daniels’ Lawyer on Why He Hasn’t Released CD: ‘What Are You Waiting For?’

Last Thursday, Michael Avenatti — attorney for Stormy Daniels — tweeted the following:

Sunday night’s much-hyped interview with Daniels on #60minutes failed to yield any further details about the contents of that disc. But Joe Scarborough really, really wants to know.

“What’s on that CD” Scarborough asked Avenatti Monday on Morning Joe. “And why didn’t we hear from Stormy Daniels last night about the contents of the CD you were teasing out last week?”

“We’re in the middle of a lawsuit, a legal fight,” Avenatti replied. “And we’re gonna be strategic and surgical in the way we go about this.”

That answer wasn’t sufficient for Scarborough.

“But didn’t you do a hashtag that said #60minutes suggesting you were going to reveal the contents on 60 Minutes?”

“I think I made it clear in the appearances that followed that that was a warning shot to the president and Mr. Cohen relating to the fact that if were they were gonna come out after the show and declare this didn’t happen, or call my client a liar, that there were going to be consequences,” Avenatti said.

Scarborough pressed Avenatti on what it would take for him to release the contents of that disc.

“What are you waiting for? What is the trigger that has you releasing physical evidence?” Scarborough said. He added, “You said that they had to threaten you. They’ve already threatened you.”

“I didn’t say they had to threaten me,” Avenatti said. “I said they should not deny the affair or that it took place and if they did so there would be consequences. But…I wouldn’t be a good attorney if I laid out on MSNBC what our strategy is going to be legally, would I?”
