Senate Intelligence Committee Invites James Comey to Testify, Asks FBI for His Memos

The Senate Intelligence Committee sent a letter to James Comey on Wednesday, requesting that the former FBI Director give testimony in both open and closed door sessions. Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe has also been asked to attend, as well as to provide any relevant memos or information he possesses.

The ongoing investigations into Russia’s campaign to meddle with the 2016 election have seen renewed interest ever since Comey was fired by President Trump. Since then, it’s been confirmed that Trump has given classified information to the Russian government, and also that Comey had a memo about how the president asked him to cease the federal investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Comey has reportedly expressed interest in giving testimony, though he wants it to be done for an open session. Comey has also reportedly indicated that he would like to clear things up about what Trump meant when he warned Comey about any “tapes” getting leaked to the press.
