Has the most prolific hot taker in sports actually been holding back? That’s what ex-ESPN talking head Skip Bayless is claiming in advance of the premiere of his new show on Fox Sports 1.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bayless says that his ESPN bosses were afraid to take the gloves off.

“Too many people in charge at ESPN were, for my taste, a little too fearful.”

Bayless is not the only former high-profile ESPN personality to levy this charge. Though he acknowledges that some limits are still in place, Bayless says that things will be different at Fox.

It’s a Disney network. There are just certain boundaries that you can’t even tiptoe along. Not that we won’t have boundaries at Fox, because we will. [But] they will trust me to go a little deeper. I can be completely honest on everything.

According to the article, Bayless’s new show is ticketed for a Sept. 6 launch. It will air from 10:00 a.m. to noon, pitting it directly opposite Bayless’s old show, ESPN First Take.
