Ted Cruz: Congress Will Have to ‘Render Judgment’ on Obama Impeachment

During an interview with Newsmax over the weekend, Senator Ted Cruz addressed the issue of impeachment and whether the way he believes President Obama flagrantly ignores the law on everything from immigration to Obamacare is grounds for impeachment. Steve Malzberg pushed Cruz on the issue, and Cruz did not endorse the idea, but did say both the House and Senate will have to “render judgment” if and when Obama has finally crossed the line.

On Obamacare, Cruz said, “Aside from their radical policy, the way they’ve implemented it has sadly been lawless.” He found it striking on how many issues the White House feels it can just issue executive orders and do whatever else it wants despite what the law says.

When Malzberg asked about impeachment, Cruz was careful in his wording.

“That’s a question for the House ultimately. The House, under the Constitution, makes the decision whether to impeach and then the Senate is charged with trying it. So that’s a question for the House to assess… My responsibility would be to render judgment.”
