Ted Cruz Makes It Official: ‘I’m Running for President’
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) announced on Twitter early Monday morning that he will run for president in 2016.
Cruz is expected to launch his bid for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination later today at Liberty University.
In anticipation of the announcement, Cruz spoke with Glenn Beck and gave some pretty convincing hints that he would be running for president. He also appeared on Morning Joe and Late Night with Seth Meyers, and gave a fiery speech at CPAC earlier this month.
Cruz has also been the subject of bipartisan criticism of his views, including from California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on Sunday’s Meet the Press — where he called Cruz “absolutely unfit to be running for office” — as well as Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who spoke recently at a presidential forum.
