The Young Turks Offer $1 Million to Make Sanders-Trump Debate Happen

So, it might not be the $10-15 million that Donald Trump demands, but one political network says they’re willing to put up a good chunk of change to have him debate Bernie Sanders.

Both the mogul and the Vermont senator appeared recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and they have done their respective best to dangle a widely-anticipated debate in America’s face. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, is taking this idea quite seriously, and he says he’s prepared to give $1 million to charity if Trump and Sanders agree to a “clash of the titans” showdown on their network.

“This is a very real offer” Uygur said at the National Press Club last night. “The charity can be decided upon by Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, and so, it is now up to Donald Trump to see whether he will do it.”

Though she expressed some concerns about the financial logistics this would mean for their independent series, co-host Ana Kasparian said she’d love to moderate the spectacle, and that “this is the kind of stuff we want to do.”

“We want to have this debate on our network, we want to host it, and we want to moderate it,” Kasparian said.

Bear in mind, the sum of all the current facts and circumstances makes it seem unlikely that a Sanders-Trump debate will actually go down. Still… we can hope and we can dream.
