Trump Says ‘Good Chance’ Kim Jong-Un Will Denuclearize: ‘Look Forward to Our Meeting!’

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday morning to declare that he was looking forward to his planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.

“For years and through many administrations, everyone said that peace and the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula was not even a small possibility,” Trump wrote. “Now there is a good chance that Kim Jong Un will do what is right for his people and for humanity. Look forward to our meeting!”

Trump added in a subsequent tweet that he received updates from Chinese President Xi Jinping about his meeting with Kim — which marked the despot’s first voyage out of the hermit kingdom since he took power in 2011, and first meeting with a foreign head of state.

“Received message last night from XI JINPING of China that his meeting with KIM JONG UN went very well and that KIM looks forward to his meeting with me,” Trump said. “In the meantime, and unfortunately, maximum sanctions and pressure must be maintained at all cost!”
