Twitter Starts Rolling the Dice on 2018 TN Race: ‘Senator Peyton Manning’

Last year, America elected a reality TV star as president, this year possible Senate hopeful Kid Rock entered the scene, and now… could Senator Peyton Manning become a reality?
On Tuesday, Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee announced that he will not seek re-election in 2018 and plans to retire at the end of his term — which left an opening for people to consider the former Tennessee Volunteers’ quarterback.
After the 2015 season, Manning left the NFL and many wondered if he had political aspirations — but with Corker exiting public office and Senator Lamar Alexander considering retirement, a Tennessee Senate seat could very well be an option for the two time Super Bowl champ — at least, that’s what many on Twitter think. However, that time Manning appeared in an SNL skit and hilariously cussed out youth football players could prove to be valuable oppo against the possible candidate.
On a serious note, if there’s one thing that the state of Tennessee loves, it’s football — and Manning’s 1997 SEC Championship run for the Vols make him one of the state’s most popular athletic figures.
If nothing else, Twitter certainly exploded at the idea of another celebrity running for public office:
Tennessee Rep. Scott DesJarlais just told me Peyton Manning (!) is indeed a possible 2018 senate candidate
