Twitter Trashes Mark Steyn For Ranting About Hispanic Immigrants in U.S.: ‘You Are From Canada’

On Thursday evening, conservative commentator Mark Steyn showed up on Tucker Carlson Tonight, as he frequently does. This time around, he was brought on to talk about illegal immigration and DACA. And it didn’t take long for Steyn to go down a rabbit hole of stoking fears of America being overtaken by Hispanics.
After defending white supremacists by saying they’re at least “American citizens,” Steyn then sounded the alarm that Arizona was becoming too brown:
“In Arizona, a majority of the grade school children now are Hispanic. That means Arizona’s future is as a Hispanic society. That means in effect, the border has moved north.”
It didn’t take long for folks on Twitter to take notice of those comments, especially after Fox News tweeted them out in full.

And one of the things the Twittersphere wanted to highlight? Oh, just that Steyn is an immigrant himself, as he was born in Canada and educated in Britain.
You know who isn't American?
MARK STEYN.
You are from Canada.
There are millions of Hispanics who are American. They are America.
You are Canadian. https://t.co/oGqmPsYL8C

Mark Steyn, incidentally, is an immigrant from Canada. One who unfortunately doesn’t seem to understand American values or the US constitution at all.

Actually, the border moved south. A little history lesson, Arizona was part of Mexico. Mexicans were always in Arizona. But they maybe didn’t teach that in Canadian history books @MarkSteynOnline ? https://t.co/tBnDN4fSfQ

An appropriate time to point out that Mark Steyn is Canadian. https://t.co/qqNbDu79ll

Others just wanted to point out that Steyn was basically spouting white supremacy:
anyway, as a parent of two Latino kids who speak Spanish as their first language and wear little mariachi outfits on September 16th, I cordially invite Mark Steyn to self-deport to Iceland or wherever he won't feel threatened by them
