Two Milwaukee TV Stations Temporarily Suspend Live Shots Following WDBJ Shooting
Two Milwaukee television stations have temporarily decided to suspend live shots for reporters following the shooting deaths this week of a WDBJ reporter and cameraman in Virginia.
According to local media blogger Duane Dudek, two different Milwaukee TV stations, WTMJ and WISN, decided to call off all live reports out of an abundance of caution because of the shooting.
WTMJ’s news director informed staffers, “Out of an abundance of caution we are not planning any discretionary live field reports from the field today.”
Meanwhile, WISN’s news director said they’re calling off live reports “out of caution, and sensitivity to our employee” and making counseling available to anyone who needs it.
Journalists all over the country have been affected by the shooting, and they’ve gotten #WeStandWithWDBJ trending in the past few days.
