Videos Show Far-Right Group Beating Protestors, Waving Sword in New York City

A group of pro-Trump, far-right protestors beat up protestors in Manhattan on Friday night after Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes spoke at the Metropolitan Republican Club.

The Proud Boys — a group of self-described “male chauvinists” led by McInnes, one of the founders of Vice — were holding an event at the club that according to McInnes, featured a recreation of the assassination of a Japanese socialist.

Photos and videos posted on social media caught the violence that broke out between the Fred Perry polo-clad Proud Boys and protestors of the event.

In one, a crowd of apparent Proud Boys can be seen beating protestors on the ground. Some can be heard shouting “faggot” and “you’re dead motherfucker.”

In one video posted on Facebook and then deleted, a Proud Boy can be heard saying: “I had one of their heads and I was just smashing it into the pavement! I ripped that motherfucker’s mask off and kicked him right in the head! That son of a bitch. He’s a fucking foreigner!”

In another video (below), the group can be heard chanting “I like beer!” — a reference to the allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. One man yells, “who has my MAGA hat?”

Per Gothamist, three men were arrested amidst the violence and charged with robbery and assault. It’s not clear whether those arrested were Proud Boys or protestors. A public defender, Gothamist reported, said she confirmed those arrested were protestors.

Fox News covered the clashes, though incorrectly identified Proud Boys leader McInnes as an Antifa protestor. McInnes can be seen in the video waving around a sword:
