WATCH LIVE: Hillary Clinton Testifies Before Benghazi Committee
The big day is here, everyone. Hillary Clinton is testifying before the House Select Committee on Benghazi.
Clinton last testified during a 2013 Senate hearing on Benghazi, where she got very testy with the line of questioning and said the now-infamous line, “What difference, at this point, does it make?”
Since then, there have been more investigations into the attacks on the Benghazi consulate, and earlier this year Clinton also came under scrutiny for her use of private email, which will undoubtedly come up during the hearing. In a press conference in March, Clinton defended her use of private email and said she did it for “convenience.”
She’s made light of the email scandal, but just last month apologized for it and said it was a mistake in hindsight.
Another issue going into today’s hearing is the question of whether the Benghazi committee is a mostly political exercise. Kevin McCarthy and another Republican congressman gave Democrats ammunition to denounce the committee. Clinton even said that if she was president and anyone tried to push a partisan committee like that, she “would have done everything to shut it down.”
