White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will meet the press corps in a briefing set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
What kind of questions can we expect Sanders to field? She’ll no doubt receive a few about Sen. Jeff Flake’s incendiary speech on the Senate floor today, which called out President Donald Trump for demonizing the media.
There’s also any lingering questions surrounding Dr. Ronny Jackson and the president’s stellar health report, in which the good doctor praised Trump’s genes and suggested he could live to be 200.
Of course, the government could be shutting down in the near future, if Republicans and Democrats cannot reach a budgetary agreement. That should get a question or two.
DACA and immigration reform will get a nod, along with Trump’s alleged “shithole countries” remarks, in which he is said to have disparaged Haiti and El Salvador, among other countries.
Finally, “The Most Dishonest and Corrupt Media Awards of the Year” will presumably be held tonight, according to the president himself. One would imagine that a White House reporter, likely MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson or CNN’s Jim Acosta, will walk away with one of these coveted statues, or discarded McDonald’s wrappers or whatever they end up being. Someone will ask for more details on this most solemn and prestigious of occasions.
Yesterday Huckabee Sanders did, however, refer to the awards ceremony as a “potential event,” so who knows.
