WATCH: Monica Lewinsky Walks Out of Interview After Being Asked About Bill Clinton

Anti-bullying activist Monica Lewinsky walked out of a speaking engagement in Jerusalem after she was asked a question about former President Bill Clinton.

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Lewinsky gave an emotional speech about abuse she has faced as well as her connection to Judaism. She was then supposed give a 15-minute interview with Channel 2 anchor Yonit Levi.

However, that interview was instantly derailed when Levi began by asking if she was still expecting a private apology from Clinton.

“I’m sorry, I’m not going to be able to do this,” Lewinsky responded and quickly stepped away from the stage.

Lewinsky took to Twitter to explain what happened.

“After a talk today on the perils and positives of the Internet, there was to be a 15 minute conversation to follow up on the subject of my speech (not a news interview). There were clear parameters about what we would be discussing and what we would not,” Lewinsky wrote. “In fact, the exact question the interviewer asked first, she had put to me when we met the day prior. I said that was off limits. When she asked me it on the stage, with blatant disregard of our agreement, it became clear to me that I had been misled.”

She went on to say that she left the stage because it is important for women “to stand up for themselves and not allow others to control their narrative” and also apologized to the audience.

Channel 2 News thanked her following their abruptly-ended interview, adding “we respect her sensitivity and wish her luck.”
