Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and national security advisor H.R. McMaster will hold a briefing today to discuss the White House’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EST.
Today’s briefing is likely to address the tax reform bill that House Republicans proposed before Congress today. President Trump has been highly invested in this reform push over the last few weeks, and he has spoken about how the measure will supposedly lead to sweeping tax cuts all around the country.
While the the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” lowers corporate tax rates and makes multiple changes for deductions and breaks, the bill is still facing preliminary review and a multitude of questions. These questions range from whether the bill does enough across the board, and whether it will uphold the broader promises of the GOP.
Another subject likely to prompt discussion are Trump’s latest tweets about the terror incident in New York earlier this week. Trump said that the perpetrator ought to get the death penalty, though it has prompted a debate about injecting politics into terror attacks, as well as whether suspected terrorists ought to be striped of their Miranda Rights.
Other probably topics for today include the president’s upcoming Asia trip, Robert Mueller’s investigation, and the House Intel Committee’s findings on Russian online activity.
