Which Journalist Is Followed on Twitter by the Most World Leaders?

A new study on world leaders’ Twitter habits has some interesting results on which journalists and news organizations they follow most.

And let’s get the big result out of the way: the journalist most followed by world leaders is none other than CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour. A total of 69 world leaders follow Amanpour on Twitter.

2nd place goes to another CNN anchor, Fareed Zakaria, with 43 world leaders as followers, while Nicholas Kristof and Paul Krugman––both of The New York Times tie at 3rd with 36.

The list also includes names like Arianna Huffington, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, George Stephanopoulos, and Oprah Winfrey. Yes, 17 world leaders actually follow Oprah.

And as for news organizations themselves, The New York Times tops the list with 142 world leaders following. The next four on the list are Reuters, CNN Breaking News, The Economist, and BBC News (World).
