White House Website Updated to Remove Reference to Melania Trump’s Jewelry Line

melaniaAfter Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States yesterday, the official White House website was changed to reflect the new administration. In new First Lady Melania Trump’s biography page, references to her numerous modeling appearances in fashion magazines were listed. As was a seeming endorsement of her jewelry line that had previously been sold on QVC.

Melania is also a successful entrepreneur. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection, “Melania™ Timepieces & Jewelry”, on QVC.

Well, that particular portion has been removed from her bio. According to CNN, a Trump spokesperson said that it was initially a reference to highlight Mrs. Trump’s “entrepreneurial success” and that the line is not currently listed for sale. QVC also pointed out that they do not currently offer the brand and don’t have an active relationship.

The spokesperson added that the removal was “out of an abundance of caution.”

President Trump has come under heavy criticism for his potential conflicts of interest as it relates to his businesses. He has stated that he will not divest from any of his business interests, instead handing off management of them to his two grown sons. Many ethics experts and lawyers feel Trump is already in violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.
