Whoops! Fake Cop Pulls Over Real Cop And Gets Himself Arrested

This is rather self-evident, but here’s a good piece of advice for anyone who wants to impersonate a police officer: don’t just walk up to people pulled over on the side of the road. You’re just asking for trouble when you do that.

New Mexico resident Tyree Appleberry apparently didn’t realize this and beckoned another man to pull over on the road, pretending to be an officer of the law. Only problem? The guy he pulled over was an actual cop. Awkward…

And the story only gets weirder from there.

Appleberry was given the citation Wednesday on charges of impersonating a police officer, then arrested for an outstanding warrant.

According to police, the 42-year-old turned on the strobe lights on his white Chevy Tahoe in an attempt to stop a driver, who turned out to be an undercover officer.

But Appleberry said he was not impersonating an officer and was instead asking the driver why he was in the parking lot next to an auto-auction yard where his friend works.

Well, at least he didn’t try the vigilante excuse…
