‘Have You BEEEEEEN There?!’ Joe Rogan Ruthlessly Mocks Douglas Murray’s ‘War Tourism’ After Testy Debate
Joe Rogan mocked Douglas Murray on his podcast Saturday, a week after the conservative commentator criticized the guest selection on this mightily popular show.
Rogan and comedian Tim Dillon equated Murray’s first-hand accounts from conflict zones to “war tourism” while roasting his contention that they are not allowed to discuss international issues without having visited those places personally.
Last Saturday, Murray challenged Rogan and comedian Dave Smith over their opinions on the conflict in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Murray was criticized by many of Rogan’s fans as a snob for asking Smith, a critic of Israel, if he had ever traveled to the country.
In one viral exchange, Murray asked Smith, “You’ve never been?”
Smith replied, “I’m not allowed to talk about it now?”
Murray concluded that Smith and other Rogan guests should have the “courtesy” to travel to areas they routinely discuss in order to fully appreciate what is happening on the ground there.
On Saturday’s podcast, Rogan and Dillon discussed death in Ukraine when the host spontaneously Murray criticism:
DILLON: There is an argument to be made that that level of devastation and death is worse than you talking to someone on your podcast.
ROGAN: Allegedly.
DILLON: There is an argument to be made. It’s probably not a good one.
ROGAN: The amount of damage you can do with just talking.
DILLON: There is an argument to make that starvation and stuff like that, and people dying is worse than a podcast.
ROGAN: But wait a minute. Wait a minute before you say that. Have you beeeeeeen there?
DILLON: Right, that’s a good point.
ROGAN: Have you even – you haven’t beeeeeeen?
DILLON: By the way, how is he in all these war – can I just go to wars? By the way, how are you allowed – are you allowed to just go to wars?
ROGAN: You should at least have the courtesy of going there.
DILLON: Can you just go to wars, or do I have to come back and say what people want me to say about the wars? Can I go to the wars and have my own opinions, or do I have to have the opinions?
ROGAN: Not if you want to go back.
Dillon concluded, “That’s very interesting, this war tourism. How do I get on this war tourism? I’d like to go to Ukraine. I want to. I want to go to all this war tourism.”
