Biden Instructing Aides To Ramp Up Highlighting the ‘Crazy Sh*t’ Coming Out of Trump’s Mouth, CNN Reports

President Joe Biden instructed senior aides to more aggressively highlight the “crazy shit” Donald Trump says in public, according to a new CNN report.

CNN’s MJ Lee, citing people familiar with the campaign activity, reported on Tuesday that Biden told his senior campaign aides that he wants to see the campaign highlighting Trump’s more outlandish comments.

While reporting the story, CNN’s Dana Bash wondered aloud if it was okay to throw the word “shit” out on cable news, or if it was a bit too early for that.

“I guess I can say the s-word, but it may be too early, on the West Coast, at least,” she joked before bringing on Lee, the network’s senior White House correspondent.

Lee reported that Biden “believes it is critical himself to paint the former president as being unhinged and simply unfit for office.”

“We’re told that the thrust of the president’s direction was to significantly ramp up the campaign’s efforts to highlight the crazy shit that Trump says in public,” Lee said.

That strategy is in no small part driven by widespread concern among Biden aides that too many voters appear to have forgotten about what they see as some of the more outrageous and unacceptable moments of the Trump presidency. As one senior campaign adviser put it recently, they have been surprised by how many voters appear to put on “rose-colored glasses” when looking back on the Trump years – a reality that the campaign says they must alter by constantly reminding voters of what Trump stands for.

Ammar Moussa, the Biden campaign’s director of rapid response, told CNN that Biden and Trump are “polar opposites.”

“Donald Trump is the polar opposite of everything President Biden stands for and has accomplished since he took office, and the campaign’s top priority over the next nine months will be laying out that stark choice for voters,” he said.

Biden and his campaign have in recent weeks condemned multiple statements from Trump, including the former president mocking Nikki Haley’s deployed husband and his declaration that he would let Russia do whatever it wants to NATO countries not paid up with the global body.
