DSA Leader Comes Out and Admits ‘Hatred’ of US Constitution

A leader within the Democratic Socialists of America admitted he and his organization have a burning “hatred” for the U.S. Constitution and view it as an “obstacle” which must be overcome by a socialist revolution.

Cliff Connolly — a member of the DSA’s national political committee — griped about the Constitution in a June 2025 appearance on the Varn Vlog podcast. The interview was dug up and reported on Monday by Natalie Winters, the co-host of Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast.

Connolly bashed the supreme law of the land while talking about the Marxist Unity Group, which dubs itself a “DSA faction” on its website; the wannabe revolutionary said MUG and the DSA both view the Constitution as a few useless pieces of parchment.

“Of the DSA caucuses that believe in democracy as an end goal, MUG is the only one that sees revolution as a necessity to get there. And of the causes in DSA which see the necessity of revolution, we’re the only ones that see democracy as the end goal,” Connonlly started off.

He then continued and shrugged, “So the two things we’re famous for is our commitment to a program and our, uh, hatred of the United States Constitution.”

Connolly added:

And what the program does is it gives us a roadmap to revolution and it gives us the obstacle that we finally will have to get over to have a revolution, which is the United States Constitution, the basis of the United States government.

The unearthed clip comes after several democratic socialists have won Democratic primaries in recent months.

Two of those candidates in New York — Darializa Avila Chevalier (D) and Claire Valdez (D) — are card-carrying members of the DSA, just like NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D). The mayor backed both Chevalier and Valdez in their primaries.

Beyond its socialist economic agenda, the DSA website said it is against President Donald Trump’s “racist immigration policies” and America being allied with Israel, which it said has committed a “genocide” in Gaza.

Soon after the primaries, Trump sardonically congratulated Mamdani on getting “solid Communists” elected. His tone shifted a few days later, when he said the communists have started to make “their move” in the USA.

“The game is on,” Trump said.

Trump has ripped the socialists and socialism plenty of other times since then, including when he said communism is a “cancer” which must be dealt with ASAP during his Fourth of July address.

He issued a similar warning during a July speech in Georgia. Trump said it is really simple to understand: “With communism, everything turns to sh*t!”

The podcast Connolly appeared on had about 3,200 views on YouTube by Monday afternoon. Watch above.
