‘Election Interference’: Pro-Trump Groups Fume After Left-Leaning Super PAC Brings Up Trump’s Past Hate of Mail-In Voting

The hard right, pro-Trump website The Federalist raised the alarm on Monday that a pro-Democrat super PAC has put out an ad using old quotes from former President Donald Trump about the dangers of mail-in voting.
The ad, shared online by critics, quotes Trump saying, “Mail-in voting is totally corrupt!” Before and after the 2020 presidential election, Trump focused many of his roundly debunked claims of voter fraud on mail-in voting, which became more prevalent due to the Covid-19 lockdowns and other safety measures. After years of hammering mail-in voting, Trump flip-flopped on the issue this Spring as the GOP launched its “Swamp The Vote USA” campaign aimed at early voting – primarily through mail-in balloting.
The Federalist published angry statements from GOP political groups claiming that the ad reminding voters of Trump’s past fury at mail-in voting was “election interference.”
Full spot here. The message is… not subtle. But without a firm grasp of the subtext you’d have no idea this was coming from the left. pic.twitter.com/dnG400MG16

“Pennsylvania Values is a Left-wing super PAC dedicated to silencing conservative voices and keeping Republican voters home, no matter the tactics,” Sentinel Action Fund, Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC), and Keystone Renewal PAC said in a joint press release. The Federalist added of their ire at the ad:
Sentinel Action Fund, Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC),and Keystone Renewal PAC say the message is clear: The same liberals that want to use the Biden Department of Justice to imprison their No. 1 political enemy are more than glad to engage in “blatant election interference,” only reinforcing the importance of getting out the conservative vote early.
According to Open Secrets, Pennsylvania Values has long been a supporter of Democrats in Pennsylvania, but in 2024 has so far raised no money and only spent $125,000 – as of mid-April. The Federalist reporting did not detail where the ad ran or how it was being distributed.
