A new poll suggests approximately half of swing state voters are concerned about potential violence around November’s presidential election.

A Bloomberg/Morning Consult survey released on Wednesday showed 49% either have “not much” trust or no trust at all that the 2024 presidential election will be free from violence. The other 51% said they have “a lot” of faith or at least “some” that there will be no violence during or after the election.

The low margins by which states like Michigan and Wisconsin were won in 2016 and 2020 have put particular attention of swing states this election cycle as the handful of states will most likely be determining which way the election leans.

Bloomberg’s data showed Trump with a slight lead in most of the battleground states. He holds the biggest leads in North Carolina where he leads 49% to 42% and Arizona where he leads 49% to 45%. He also leads by smaller margins in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.

President Joe Biden leads in Michigan by just one point while Nevada is a dead heat at 47% to 47%. Overall, Trump is averaging 4% ahead of Biden in the swing states.

The data follows a New York Times/Siena College poll released this month showing Trump with even bigger leads in Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania.

The survey was conducted among 4,962 registered voters in seven swing states from May 7-13. It has a margin of error of 1%.
