Harris Faulkner Compliments Nancy Pelosi After Slew Of Failed Speaker Votes: ‘She Could Count’

Harris Faulkner acknowledged former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) knack for having her finger on the pulse of where House Democrats were at any given time as Republicans struggle to choose a speaker.

Three weeks ago, the House removed Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from the position when Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) filed a motion to vacate his position. That succeeded when eight Republicans joined 208 Democrats in voting to oust him. The House GOP conference has since nominated three candidates, but the first two did not have the necessary votes. The third, Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), was tapped on Tuesday. It is unclear when the GOP will schedule a vote.

“When do we know next steps?” Faulkner asked Senior Congressional Correspondent Chad Pergram on Outnumbered on Fox News.

“Well, that’s what they’re trying to sort out now,” he answered. “If they feel they have votes, they would go to the floor. This is what you always do on Capitol Hill. If you think you have votes and you think you can win, you go to the floor. You don’t sit around and say, ‘Let’s vote at three o’clock on Tuesday’ or something like that.”

Pergram added that some whipping of votes may need to be done on Emmer’s behalf.

“You might have to have whipping going on here where Tom Emmer as nominee, he is the whip and needs to make sure he has the votes lined up,” he said. “And sometimes that’s been an Achilles heel for Republicans lately.”

“Yeah, you know who did it well?” Faulkner responded. “Boy, she could count votes – Nancy Pelosi. And Republicans watched that from across the aisle with awe and frustration sometimes.”
