Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon said on Wednesday that Republicans are glad to be running against President Joe Biden, whom he likened to a “cadaver” during an interview from prison with Breitbart News.

Speaking to Breitbart News’ Matthew Boyle via email from the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, Bannon called on House Republicans to “move immediately to investigate and get to the bottom of who knew” about Biden’s “cognitive decline,” which has reportedly concerned the president’s allies for more than a year.

“We must get to the bottom of it and must do that now,” said Bannon, who is currently serving a four-month prison sentence for contempt of Congress. “This is not about whether Biden can serve four more years but can he get the country safely to January 2025?”

The former Breitbart executive chairman explained, “The political goal here for MAGA is to ‘toxify’ the process of the Democratic bait and switch as much as possible…this is all process and the American voter should be armed with minute-by-minute information on what is actually going on… I’m sure they will be repulsed.”

Asked for his thoughts on the many Democrats who are “sticking with” Biden “despite the severe problems,” Bannon replied, “So we got the candidate we want… and the country is stuck with a non-performing cadaver.”

He concluded, “Time to ratchet up the national security aspect of this—he’s unfit to be Commander-in-Chief—now or in January 2025… we need to know who is responsible for this cover-up… clearly European leaders are giving one embarrassing story after another.”

Since his disastrous performance in CNN’s first presidential debate last month, many Democrats and allies of the president in the media have expressed concern over Biden’s chances of beating former President Donald Trump in November.

On Wednesday, MSNBC host Chris Hayes warned Biden was “increasingly likely to lose reelection” due to the effects of his “aging.”
