‘Stop This Madness’: Trump Calls For ‘Vicious’ Law And Order After Charlotte Train Murder

President Donald Trump on Tuesday called for law and order to counteract the “senseless crime” infecting Democrat-run cities like Charlotte, North Carolina, where the president said liberal policies allowed a “deranged monster” to recently slaughter Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard a train.

“We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country,” Trump said. “We have to respond with force and strength. We have to be vicious, just like they are. It’s the only thing they understand.”

The president made his comment in a two-minute video of him behind the Resolute desk that was shared to his X account.

Trump shared more thoughts on the slaying of Zarutska, after the stomach-wrenching surveillance footage of her being stabbed to death on a Charlotte train went viral over the weekend.

The culprit, who authorities have identified as 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr., had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had a long list of violent and non-violent crimes on his record, including robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, and breaking and entering. His criminal past led many to ask — including Trump on Tuesday — why he was allowed to sit behind Zarutska to begin with and was not locked up in prison.

President Trump said the savage murder was a symbol of failed Democratic soft-on-crime policies:

For too long, Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat-run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people — really, very, very innocent people. In every place they control, radical left judges, politicians and activists, and they’ve adopted a policy of ‘catch and release’ for thugs and killers. In Charlotte, North Carolina, we saw the results of these policies when a 23-year-old woman who came here from Ukraine met her bloody end on a public train.

The president then flashed a printed picture of Zarutska aboard the train, right before Brown Jr. fatally stabbed her. He continued:

And here’s a picture of it. This is the picture of it, and this is a picture of the woman — beautiful, young girl that never had problems in life, with a magnificent future in this country. And now she’s dead. She was slaughtered by a deranged monster who was roaming free after 14 prior arrests. We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country.

Trump’s comments on Zarutska come a day after he first addressed her murder, saying the video was too “horrible” to watch.

The president, in his Tuesday video, added that 24 of the top 25 most violent cities in America are run by Democrats. He said it is time to “stop this madness” and end the violence — and he believes it can be done, after Washington, D.C. saw a major drop in crime following his deployment of the National Guard. Trump said it now needs to happen in Chicago and other violent major cities.

“Chicago needs our help. Other cities need help,” he said. “We’ll do what has to be done, because we’re going to make America safe again.”
