Trump Goes Wild on Democratic ‘Extremists’ Over Shutdown Before Blasting ‘Barack Hussein Obama’

President Donald Trump skewered congressional Democrats as he was signing a bill to end the longest government shutdown in history on Wednesday night, saying they are “extremists” who waited to sign the “no-brainer” deal because they were looking to rip off the American taxpayer.

Trump’s scorched-earth comments were made at the Resolute Desk before a handful of reporters and while he was flanked by a number of Republican lawmakers, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). The president did not take any questions from the press after signing the bill, but the television audio picked up at least one reporter shouting a question about the latest Jeffrey Epstein documents released earlier in the day.

“For the past 43 days, Democrats in Congress shut down the government of the United States in an attempt to extort American taxpayers for hundreds of billions of dollars for illegal aliens and people that came into our country illegally, from gangs, from prisons, from mental institutions,” Trump said.

He continued, “They wanted to pay them $1.5 trillion, which would have really hurt our health care businesses and our recipients at levels never seen before. Today, we’re sending a clear message that we will never give in to extortion, because that’s what it was.”

Trump said the deal should have been considered “not a big deal,” but the Democrats wanted to play hardball — before they ultimately ended up getting the same deal they would have had more than a month ago.

The president also moved on from congressional Dems to bashing two of his favorite human piñatas, ex-President Barack Obama and New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

Trump said Obama — calling him by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama — was responsible for the “disaster” Affordable Care Act. He also called Obamacare a “crazy idea” and a “scandal.” Moving forward, Trump said he wants to work out a deal where money that goes towards insurance companies goes to “the people” instead, allowing them to “buy their own healthcare.”

He then said Democratic leadership was grappling with its “far-left base,” represented by “communist” Mamdani, who is a self-described democratic socialist and member of the DSA.

“If you look at his views, those are the views of a communist, not a socialist,” Trump said. “So this is no way to run a country.”
