‘True Intimidation’: Republican Says Americans Should Be ‘Worried’ Trump Couldn’t Get Away With Porn Star Hush Money Payments
Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN) claimed that Americans should be “worried” that Donald Trump could not get away with giving hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels.
During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday where the Manhattan District Attorney’s office became the center of discussion, Spartz made her remarks arguing that Trump’s conviction showcased “true intimidation.”
Last month, the former president was convicted on 34 counts for fabricating business documents regarding hush money payments made to Daniels via his ex-attorney Michael Cohen. The payments were made to reportedly coverup an alleged affair between the pair amid the 2016 presidential election.
Spartz said that all Americans should feel “worried” by Trump’s conviction because it means they too could be convicted for paying an attorney to cover up an alleged affair.
Interestingly enough, when talking about intimidation and threatening and disinformation, I would say, you know, I’m not an attorney, I’m actually a CPA and been involved with finances for a long time. And I think a lot of Americans should be intimidated and worried if they pay bill to attorney and put it the legal expense, and they can have sort of 34 felony counts for that. That is true intimidation. That is a true what the law is, you know, so that would make anyone very nervous.
Trump also faces three other criminal prosecutions in three separate jurisdictions, including for his handling of classified documents after leaving office and his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
