“I think we gave him the benefit of the doubt and we probably should’ve investigated the allegations against him as well. … This is not about partisan politics to me. On Thursday night, actress/activist Alyssa Milano appeared on CNN and weighed in on the pending confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Milano, who was seen sitting behind Kavanaugh at last week’s hearing, opposed his confirmation but was asked by CNN anchor Chris Cuomo about her thoughts of the allegations made against former President Bill Clinton, who he noted is repeatedly invoked by conservatives who say he got a free pass after being accused of sexual misconduct.
“You are a fan of Bill Clinton… Should Kavanaugh receive the same benefit of the doubt.”
“No, and I don’t think Bill Clinton should have gotten that benefit of the doubt hindsight,” Milano responded. “I think that as a nation, we were in a different time. I think that women were continually being silenced. And I think we gave him the benefit of the doubt and we probably should’ve investigated the allegations against him as well.”
“This is not about partisan politics to me. This is about humanity, Milano continued. “Even though this process is so uncomfortable for everyone, we really have to look at it, look at where we want to be, who we want to be as a nation, and really examine this in a nonpolitical way but in a human way.”
