Bernie Sanders Bites Back at Fox’s Bret Baier Questioning on Private Jet Use: ‘It’s the Only Way To Get Around!’

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) bit back when Fox News’ Bret Baier questioned his use of private jets during his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

In a Wednesday interview on Special Report, Baier noted that Sanders has critics who take issue with his private jet use and the senator immediately pushed back.

“When’s the last time you saw Donald Trump during a campaign mode at National Airport?” he asked Baier.

“No, no, no. It doesn’t. But he’s also not fighting the oligarchy,” Baier said, noting that Sanders has spent well over $200,000 on private jet flights during his tour.

Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have been holding rallies across the country as part of the “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.

“You run a campaign and you do three or four five rallies in a week, the only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people,” Sanders said. “You think I’m going to be sitting on a waiting line at United while, what, thirty thousand people are waiting around. It’s the only way you can get around. No apologies for that. That’s what campaign travel is about.”

Sanders defended his current tour when asked if it’s “scratching the itch” for voters unhappy with the current administration.

“I think at a time when the people on top are doing phenomenally, when seniors, working-class people are struggling, people want to hear action to stand up to the people who have the wealth and the power and create an economy that works for all of us, not just the people on top,” the senator said.
