CNN Reporter: ‘You Can Run for President on Fox News’

During a discussion about the 2016 presidential field on Reliable Sources Sunday, CNN’s Peter Hamby asserted that cable news competitor Fox News is now such a strong media force for conservatives that Republican candidates can use the network to reach the necessary voters while completely forgoing the traditional stepping stones to the presidency.

“You can run for president on Fox News,” Hamby said, noting his time spent on the campaign trail in 2012 as a basis for his statement. “You talk to Republican activists, all they do is watch Fox News. You can reach as many Iowa voters by going on Fox News — more Iowa voters — than by flying to Des Moines.”

He added that someone like Fox host and former governor Mike Huckabee “gets to be on TV, knock Democrats teeth in every day, do it with a smile, and not have to do the nitty-gritty of campaigning.” Besides Huckabee, Fox News also employs potential 2016 candidates Sarah Palin, Herman Cain and others.
