CNN: The $25,000 Check Trump Promised Gold Star Father Was Not Sent Until Today
Like a bad former roommate, it turns out that despite the White House’s indignant claim that President Donald Trump had sent the $25,000 check to Chris Baldridge, the father of Army Cpl. Dillon Baldridge, the check was not sent out until today.
If you are keeping score (it’s really hard to) Trump reportedly made this fateful phone call back in June after Chris was killed in battle that month.
Kaitlin Collins from CNN noted that his father told the Washington Post that the initial call lasted for “about fifteen minutes” before Trump made the promise to send over a $25,000 personal check “for his loss.” When Baldridge received a letter in the mail months ago from the President, the check was miraculously NOT included. Yes, this would possibly put the check on a four-month plus delay.
There has been no update from the White House explaining the impressive delay or whether the check would have been sent without prompting from the Washington Post.
