Ed Schultz: ‘The Level Of Open Racism By Right Wing Talkers Is Obscene’

Ed Schultz continued charting “violent rhetoric” from conservative hosts and wondered why there is never any consequences for the “reckless” and “stupid” talk coming from Fox News’ Glenn Beck and Fox Business’ Eric Bolling, or radio host Neal Boortz. Schultz’s own history of apologizing and accepting punishment for regrettable remarks likely contributes to his anger that “conservatives have different rules and standards.”

Schultz aired clips of Bolling using racial language and of Beck pointing at a picture of Obama and talking about guns. However, last night Schultz was most disturbed by comments from Boortz where he complained about having “too damn many urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody” and urging his listeners to get a gun since “we need more dead thugs.” Schultz responded:

“The level of open racism by right-wing talkers I think is obscene. We’re not talking about name-calling here. Where’s the pushback? Where’s the accountability? Where’s the responsibility?”

Schultz challenged Boortz to appear on his show with pictures of what these thugs look like and predicted that Boortz’s pictures wouldn’t be of white men. Disgusted that conservatives haven’t learned anything since the Arizona shooting of an elected politician, Schultz also blamed Fox’s Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes, since they “got a history of letting their hosts off the hook for garbage like this.”
