Fox News Host Pushes Unhinged Theory That Democrats Are ‘Fine’ With the Killing of Jews
Fox News contributor and sometimes host Jason Chaffetz told Harris Faulkner during an on-air interview Wednesday Democrats are “fine” with the killing of Jews.
During a segment criticizing Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and other progressive Democratic lawmakers for calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, Chaffetz first claimed it was hypocritical for Tlaib to fly a rainbow flag in support LGBTQ+ rights while also flying a Palestinian flag outside of her office. Tlaib’s parents are Palestinian immigrants.
Chaffetz then claimed Democrats on the whole have looked for ways to support Hamas ever since it was designated a terrorist organization decades ago.
“Hamas was designated as a terrorist organization in 1997, and systematically since then, Democrats more and more have been the ones who said they’re pro-Hamas,” said Chaffetz, a former Republican congressman.
He then leveled an extreme allegation: that Democrats are “fine” with the killing of Jews.
“But you know what Democrats are choosing? They’re the ones that preach the tolerance. But if it’s killing a Jew, they’re just fine with it,” he said.
Despite Chaffetz’s claim, polls show broad support for Jews and Israel among Democrats. The vast majority of American Jews are Democrats, and a recent Quinnipiac survey found 76 percent of Democrats think supporting Israel is in the national interest of the United States.
According to a national survey published last year soon after former President Donald Trump dined with a white supremacist and Holocaust denier at Mar-a-Lago, Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to says prejudice against Jews is a serious issue. The 2022 Quinnipiac survey showed 83% that Democrats identified prejudice against Jews as a very serious or somewhat serious issue. Only 44% of Republicans agreed, according to the Times Of Israel.
He concluded by suggesting young Democrats do not believe the Holocaust is real: “I just cannot believe we’re at this point in our society that these Jewish people are targeted so aggressively. It’s just absolutely disgusting and void of facts. I mean, what we’ve been teaching these kids over the last few decades, I really want them to dive deeper. Do they even believe the Holocaust happened? Do they believe that the 10 million Jews were killed? I don’t think they do.”
