Fox’s Bill Hemmer to White House Aide Mercedes Schlapp: ‘You Need to Go On Offense’ Against Media

Bill Hemmer of Fox News had a bizarre moment on America’s Newsroom Friday in which he told a White House aide that she should “go on offense” against the media.

During an interview with lobbyist-turned-White House official Mercedes Schlapp, Hemmer and America’s Newsroom co-anchor Sandra Smith asked for Schlapp’s take on yesterday’s big blow-up between Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and CNN’s Jim Acosta.

The hosts teed up the White House aide to reject Trump’s label that the press is the “enemy of the people.” Schlapp happily obliged.

“Fake news is dangerous,” she said. And we know for a fact that many of these so-called news reporters that go out there, okay, have a complete disdain for Trump.”

Schlapp went on to further slam the media — declining to reject the “enemy of the people” label.

And then Hemmer made this…curious comment.

“I don’t think you should be defensive about this. You need to go on offense. And I know that’s a big part of why you came on today.”

If that weren’t enough, Hemmer concluded the interview with a hard-hitting question.

“Are you tired of winning?” He said.
