Maria Bartiromo Questions Dr. Oz on ‘National Security Issue’ With Biden: ‘You’re a Doctor, Does He Have Dementia?’
Fox’s Maria Bartiromo asked Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz whether he would diagnose President Joe Biden with dementia during a Tuesday interview.
Appearing on Mornings with Maria, Dr. Oz promoted his Senate run against Democrat John Fetterman, called for “energy independence,” and urged Democrats to ditch the president’s policies amid numerous crises to vote Republican in November. Bartiromo turned the conversation, at one point, to Biden’s cognitive abilities.
Dr. Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon and Biden is obviously not under his care, but Bartiromo bluntly asked him, “Let’s take a look at all of these gaffes that we are watching on display every day from this president. You’re a doctor, does he have dementia? Is this a national security issue?”
Dr. Oz responded with laughter and eventually said part of his hippocratic oath as a doctor prevents him from answering such a question.
“Part of the hippocratic oath is you don’t doctor on people who don’t want your help. I’m not taking care of him. I can’t speak to that issue,” he said, then turning the conversation back to Biden’s policies, saying, “I don’t like the decisions he’s currently masking.”
The former television host — who has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump — went on to say Biden and other Democrats are crumbling under the pressure of the “far-left,” which he accused Fetterman of being part of.
“Biden is not governing the way he said he would govern from the middle,” Dr. Oz said. “He’s clearly being pulled far to the left. What I’m witnessing, for example, with John Fetterman, my opponent, is that he’s way to the far-left. He’s a Bernie Sanders liberal and he doesn’t think that Biden’s doing enough. So that’s the kind of pressure Biden’s collapsing in front of.”
While most critics have not bluntly asked a surgeon whether Biden has dementia, the 79-year-old’s cognitive abilities have been a hot topic of discussion, due to increasing verbal gaffes in public, a lack of media interviews, and his advanced age.
During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s show in April, Dr. Oz did not diagnose Biden, but he did express concern over the president’s mental state and pushed for a cognitive test.
