Kellyanne Conway Backtracks on Claim Op-Ed Writer Might Be on National Security Team

On Friday, Kellyanne Conway said that President Donald Trump thought the author of the New York Times op-ed, known only as a senior Trump administration official, was “somebody in national security.”

She backtracked on those claims after questioning from Jake Tapper on State of the Union Sunday.

“Why does the president think it is a member of the national security team?” Tapper asked.

“He’s making the point that if it is, if it is that raises true concerns,” she replied. “If it’s someone who has access to information.”

Tapper also noted reports that the hunt for the writer has been narrowed down to a few individuals, asking Conway: “Who is on the list?”

“I have no idea who’s on the list,” Conway replied.
