According to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, missing Malaysia Air flight MH370 “ended in the southern Indian Ocean.”
At a press conference Monday morning, Razak said new data obtained from a British satellite company showed the flight flew along the southern corridor and its last position was in the Indian Ocean, west of Perth. The news came as an Australian ship was speeding toward debris that had been spotted in roughly the area Razak described.
Razak also said Malaysia Airlines had already informed the families of the flight’s likely end, and he asked that the media respect the families’ time of grief. “They have told us all lives are lost,” one family member told CNN.
Razak added that another press conference would be held on Tuesday with more details.
