Mika Brzezinski Defends Boss Andy Lack: Trump Attacking With ‘Stupid Rumors’
Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski defended NBC News chairman Andy Lack from President Donald Trump‘s attacks on Thursday morning.
In a frenetic morning tweetstorm, the president called NBC News “the worst,” adding: “The good news is that Andy Lack(y) is about to be fired(?) for incompetence, and much worse.”
“When Lester Holt got caught fudging my tape on Russia, they were hurt badly!” Trump added, baselessly.
Brzezinski called the tweet “importantly stupid.”
“Not only is he attacking not only is he attacking NBC’s chairman Andy Lack, our boss, with stupid rumors, but also he’s going after the truth.”
Page Six reported last week that Lack’s overlords at Comcast, concerned by his handling of #MeToo cases at NBC News, are searching for his replacement. That comes as the Daily Beast works on a bombshell report about sexual harassment and misconduct about NBC News that has executives rattled, Mediaite reported.
Brzezinski continued: “Attacking NBC News, saying that Lester Holt got caught fudging the interview. He’s trying to shape the truth, around the reality that he wants people to believe.”
“How dangerous is this?” she asked editor of The Atlantic Jeffrey Goldberg of Trump’s attacks.
“It’s very dangerous,” Goldberg said, arguing the president should be challenged to provide proof for his “unfounded and dangerous assertion.”
“We’re in new territory here,” he continued. “There doesn’t seem to be a check on the president’s unbelievable willingness to turn the media into the ‘enemy of the people.’ That’s where the Republican Congress could come into play, but so far hasn’t.”
